Our Intro to Interchangeable Lens Cameras Photography Class is the perfect way to learn all about your camera whether you’ve had it for years and always shot in auto mode, it’s been hiding in your closet collecting dust, or you just got it!
 
This class provides an introduction to the basics of digital photography. Get to know your camera’s capabilities including resolution, ISO, apertures, shutter speeds, metering, and auto focus.
 
All makes and models of interchangeable lens cameras are welcome!

Shooting with experienced photo workshop model Madysen offers an opportunity to develop your photography skills, capturing a full range of expression and essence in your subjects. This class provides guidance on both the technical aspects of model photography and directing subjects in various situations.
 

Students often share that, while they hadn’t considered working with a model before, it was a valuable and enjoyable learning experience that allowed them to take unique and fun photos, different from those they’ve taken of family and friends.

Devil’s River Photography Outing with Michael Cooney

People, Landscapes, Waterfalls and Caves

Thursday, May 1st | 2:00pm – 5:00pm | $125

Master the skills to engage subjects, capture dramatic environmental portraits, expressive landscapes, and romantic water motion images. Challenge yourself as you explore shallow caves, rock escarpments, and the beauty of spring alongside students of all skill levels in a supportive environment.

Shooting on location with experienced workshop models Madysen and Torri, you’ll learn to create images that capture the full range of expression and essence of people. The class provides guidance on the technical aspects of model photography, as well as tips on directing subjects in various situations.

Students often share that, while they hadn’t considered working with a model before, they found it an enjoyable learning experience. They created photos that were both unique and different from their usual family and friend portraits.

Locations:

  • Devil’s River Campground (16612 County Road R, Maribel, WI): A scenic spot with a historic mill, barn, silo, log cabins, and small waterfalls, ideal for environmental portraits and nature photography.
  • Cherney Caves Park (15401 County Road R, Maribel, WI): Just down the road, with easily accessible caves, spring flowers, and deep woods.

Models Madysen and Torri will provide a variety of looks at both locations and are available to work individually with photographers as time permits.

Equipment:
Bring a digital camera, tripod, and ND (Neutral Density) filter for water motion photography. A polarizing filter can be used but offers a limited range. Smartphone photographers are welcome to explore their cameras’ full capabilities.

Advisory:
These locations require walking, climbing stairs, and navigating rocky environments and may not be suitable for individuals with mobility issues.

Pre-Trip Briefing:
Before the field trip, take a moment to view the recorded Zoom class briefing at your convenience. This briefing will outline the shooting opportunities and techniques needed to capture images you can be proud of. The link will be provided upon registration.
